Being Still: The Power in the Pause
There’s a quiet kind of courage in being still.
Not the kind that demands applause
or proves its strength through motion—
but the kind that listens.
That waits.
That breathes deeply even when the world says,
“Go. Run. Do. Now.”
I used to think stillness meant doing nothing.
That it was lazy, unproductive.
But life—especially as a creative, a mother, a partner, a woman trying to hold sacred space for her dreams—has taught me otherwise.
Being still is a choice.
It’s resistance.
It’s rest.
It’s recovery.
It’s returning to yourself.
In a season where everyone seems to be chasing, launching, building, broadcasting…
I’ve had to remind myself:
Growth is also underground.
The roots deepen when there’s no spotlight.
The soul expands in silence.
The vision clears when the noise fades.
Stillness is where I remember why I started.
Why I write.
Why I create.
Why I love.
It’s where I hear God again.
Not in the thunder,
but in the whisper.
And it’s not always easy.
Stillness means facing yourself.
All of yourself.
The beauty, the ache, the questions that don’t yet have answers.
But that’s the gift.
In stillness, we find truth.
And in truth, we find alignment.
So if you’re in a season where you feel like you’re not “doing enough”—
you are.
You’re being.
You’re becoming.
And that is enough.
Have you allowed yourself to be still lately?
What have you discovered in the quiet?
Let’s talk about it below.
Your stillness has a story, too.

With love,
Naima
